About Us
In 2004 a group of parents, all with a child with an autistic spectrum disorder, realized that Southend needed a local autism support group.
So with the help of the council’s parenting co-ordinator we set up SOS 4 ASD.
We felt it was important that parents could access local support when they needed it, whether following diagnosis, when experiencing problems or when they just wanted to talk to people who understood something of what they were going through.
We now hold regular meetings where parents can chat and share experiences and information, as well as occasional talks from professionals and holiday activities for children
We are an informal and friendly group who all learn from each other.
Although we have some difficult problems to face at times, we usually manage to stay positive and even have a few laughs along the way!
New members are always very welcome.
